While contemplating the current appearance of the cockpit sole and the work needed to get it first rate, we thought about adding a grate.  Looked online and saw some really nice applications to sailboats and really liked how they enhanced the appearance of the boat.

Several sites would custom make a grate for us but the prices seemed fairly steep even for ones that would come to me in pieces and I would still be required to assemble it.

The choices were either an interlocking or slat type grate.  Because of ease, we choose the later.  Teak is quite pricey so we decided on African Mahogany as we had some left over from a toe rail project.

Base is made from cedar with Mahogany slats .  Cutouts in the corner are designed to keep the scuppers clear.  Pictured to the righ is Bruce and shop dog Lonnie.
